Our Bootcamps

Oluaka Residential Tech Bootcamps

The first bootcamp took place in June 2022 and lasted for five days. The campers were exposed to the fundamentals of Cybersecurity, Python Programming, and Advanced Data Analytics using Microsoft Excel. Participants came from Imo, Rivers State, Edo, Delta, and Abia State respectively. Feedback from the maiden edition led to the decision to increase the duration of the bootcamp from five (5)days to fourteen days; organizing the bootcamp twice in a year; and introducing basic computer sessions for bootcampers who are new to computer use.

The Third Bootcamps

The third residential bootcamp took place between June 6th -15th 2023 and was sponsored by the National Youth Future Funds (NYFF) project of Leap Africa, a non-governmental organization that builds the capacity of youths to take up leadership position and be social change agents. The ten (10) days bootcamp, with the theme - Technology, Entrepreneurship and Leadership (TEL) had a total of 30 youths participated in the bootcamp. Participants were drawn from 15 youth organizations across three states in the south east – Abia, Enugu and Imo.

On arrival, they were taken on a tour of the Institute, before they settled to learn, network and bond. While some of the participants had some technological skills, a few others among them did not. Not new to the fact that students’ knowledge levels differ at the point of entrance, our skilled instructors were able to within 2 days bring all students to the same level, and move on from there to take them through web development, using word press. Apart from being taught frontend web development; guest speakers and mentors were brought in to talk to and inspire them on entrepreneurship and leadership. As young people it is important that the right attitude and correct work ethics are imbibed very early. The bootcamp offered them the opportunity to get to meet other young people in the ecosystem, discuss and exchange ideas.

At the end of the 10 days programme, the boot campers were awarded Certificates of Attendance.
